1964-1966 Mattel Allan Doll |

Allan is 12" tall, he was first introduced in 1964, he has the same body and markings as Ken and shares his wardrobe. He did have two outfits made and tagged "Allan", his original swimsuit with striped jacket and Best Man shown below. Allan was Midge Hadley's boyfriend. Sometime in 1966 the Allan doll was discontinued. Items pictured here are for reference only - not for sale. |

Straight legs, molded red hair, brown eyes, solid blue shorts $15, horizontal striped jacket $10 (vertical striped is less common $15) with white terry cloth collar that is bonded to the fabric, blue strap cork sandals $15 and a black wire stand $10. 1010 Allan Bend leg (1965-66) The same as the straight leg doll, but with bendable legs, new red jacket $15, lighter blue shorts $15, blue strap cork sandals $15, and black wire stand $15 or gold wire stand $25.
Markings are the same as the straight leg Allan doll #1000.

Trivia: The Allan doll was named after Barbara Handler's real husband Allan Segal. Only one vinyl Mattel case pictures a graphic of both Barbie & Allan, a high valued case. Barbara & Allan Segal had two children; Cheryl & Todd. They divorced in the 1960's and Allan the doll disappeared (1966) from the line until 1990. |

1425 Allan's Best Man (1966-1967)
This was the only outfit specifically made for the Allan doll other than his original swimsuit attire; it featured a white dinner jacket, with half white lining, black zippered pants with soutache braid down the side, white lace & pearl button trimmed white shirt, red satin cummerbund & bowtie, black knit socks and black shoes. Allan vinyl case - French - Date 1960's Photo courtesy Janet Poff This is the only case that we have ever seen that features only the Allan doll; wearing Saturday Nite Date. The case is made of a heavy navy blue vinyl and was featured in the Barbie Bazaar, Feb 2000 article. Lucky Janet who owns this case! Value $240-300. |
