Restoration - what it means to me
To me,
restoration means bringing the doll back to its original
looking condition, down to the last eyelash. I do not
take artistic license with any of my dolls. Also, I
believe that honesty is the best policy when selling a
restored doll. My goal is for the repair to be invisible
and undetectable. But in all fairness to the buyer,
repairs must be disclosed, whether they can be detected
or not. It's all about ethics.
I restore
mainly composition dolls, but love working with rubber
dolls like Amosandras, Tiny Tears, Dy-dees, So Wees. My
all time favorite restoration is celluloid.
Research is 90% of the work
When
restoring a doll, I always always ALWAYS find a picture
of a mint to near mint doll to use as a guide when I
have to repaint |
