1966 Hasbro Dolly Darlings - Prototype Dolls |
|
These prototype dolls are from the Don Levine Collection who was a Vice President at Hasbro (better known as the creator of the G. I. Joe action figures) when these dolls were produced in 1965-1968. Items pictured here are for reference only - not for sale. |

This is a early prototype head. |
A prototype "Debbie"
Notice that her facial features are the same as the head to the left, except she has side glancing eyes.
Also, her hands are reversed from the production dolls, and she is shorter.
Her outfit is the same as Fancy Pants (8543) pictured below, the actual packaging was changed too. |

In 1969 production ceased for these dolls and as much stock as could be, was put on the market. This may explain why some dolls have variations. However, when you find a mismatched or non-typical doll, it can often be that a child playing with the doll has changed the heads or clothes. These Dolls are difficult to redress, due to the ballerina like arm pose. |
