Perthy
doll by Horsman, face 1950's |
Perthy
is 13-1/2" tall, produced in the 1950's, made of firm vinyl
with a softer
vinyl face. The eyes are recessed glass, lips are closed and smiling, the blond
rooted hair is closely plugged only on the top crown.
This doll is a squeaker/crier with the standard hole at the top of the
center back near the neck joint, marked on neck: 14 above this hole.
When the body or when the center top of the head (where the hair is
attached) is squeezed or pressed, the noise is heard. Arms and legs are
jointed and the head turns.
Was originally dressed in a blue and pink trimmed flannel one piece
pajama and a pink striped flannel robe with pink tassel tie belt.
The tag says
Perthy, "Percy to you" which would indicate that it is a boy.

Perthy's
Horsman box 1950's |
The number on the end of the box is 74?X. We believe that the
third number has a curve on the bottom making it either a 3, 6 or 8.
It is in mint condition and has a lovely face, very childlike and
loveable. Most probably it was made in the 1950's as it was purchased in
1960 for $4.50.
Thanks
to Andrea Azar who inquired about the Perthy doll and sent
these photo's and descriptions. |
