Mego Dolls & Action Figures 1970s-1979

Mego a USA company sold dolls from the 1970s until they went bankrupt in 1983.  They are best known for their action figure Super Hero's from the DC comics and celebrity dolls from TV shows of that era.  Neal Adams a renown comic book artist was responsible for much of the Mego packaging and toy artwork.

Dolls and Action Figures are high quality products and can command an impressive price tag on the secondary market today.

1971 Broadway Joe Namath, football player, 12" tall, vinyl head and body, painted hair and face, jointed body.  White football uniform, green sleeves, green number 12, white socks with green stripes, white cleats with green stripes, white football helmet, brown football, instructions on how the action figure throws the ball.  Also, twelve additional mod about town outfits were available.

1971-1972 Action Jackson, 8" tall, white or black, vinyl head, plastic body, painted eyes and molded hair action figure, has many accessories,

1971-1974 Dinah-mite is the female 8" multi-jointed doll, rooted hair, painted facial features, wore a purple jumpsuit with white plastic belt.  Also came as a black Dinah-mite doll.  Mark: ©Mego Corp/Reg. U.S. Pat. Off./Pat. Pend./Hong Kong/MCMLXXI.

Dinah-mite's male friend is Don also 8" tall,  their were separate fashions, play sets, vinyl case, and other accessories, too

1973-1975 Star Trek,  TV show series, six action figures, 8" tall:  Captain James T. Kirk, Dr. Leonard "Bones" McCoy, Mr. Spock, Lieutenant Uhura, Mr. Montgomery "Scottie" Scott,  & Klingon. 

1975-76 Star Trek Aliens series, 8" tall. 

1979 Star Trek, movie series, 12 1/2" tall, six action figures:  Captain James T. Kirk, Mr. Spock, Lieutenant Ilia, Klingon Commander, Willard Decker & alien Arcturian.

1967-1972 Princess Grace doll company sold a look a like Maddie doll, who is marked: Princess Grace.

ca. 1970s Dizzy Girl, 6 1/2" tall, Dawn look a like or competitor,  rooted hair, painted eyes & facial features, blown plastic jointed body, bendy legs with inside wire.  Lots of extra fashions could be purchased separately.

1976-1981 Sonny & Cher dolls, TV show by same name, both 12" tall, Cher has an extensive wardrobe designed by Bob Mackie 30 outfits, Sonny had only six outfits, all clothing was available separately.  There were also play sets available like a dressing room. See the Cher and Sonny link for more details.

1977 Charlie's Angels dolls each 12 1/2" tall; Jill Munroe (Farrah Fawcett) big blonde rooted hair, painted green eyes,  Kelly Garret (Jaclyn Smith) brunette rooted hair, painted eyes, Sabina  Duncan (Kate Jackson) dark brunette short hair, & Kris Munroe, Jill's sister (Cheryl Ladd) blonde hair.   (Hasbro also made Charlie's Angels dolls that were 8 1/2" tall in 1977).

1978 Bubble Yum Baby doll, about 14" tall, rooted straight blonde hair, blue painted eyes, open mouth, wearing her red bubble yum shirt with dolls name imprinted, blue jeans and red and white tennis shoes, came with balloons that the doll blows up.
