Topper Toys
(a division of Deluxe Reading Corp.) produced Dawn and her friends from 1970-73, at which time they went
bankrupt. She was only 6 1/2" tall and considerably less expensive than Barbie. She also had a fabulous wardrobe, cars, furniture and
accessories and shared her wardrobe with her same sized friends.
The other dolls are;
Angie, Dale (black African American doll), Gloria,
Long Locks and Jessica. Three
male dolls were later introduced, Gary, Ron and Van (black
African American doll). Some of these dolls were known as "dancing"
dolls due to when you moved their arms, their
head and waist twisted and they appeared to be dancing.
Next were
Head To Toe Dolls - these have short rooted hair and have 3
additional wigs. The Flower Fantasy dolls were sold packaged standing in a flower pot, these were not sold in great quantities and are highly sought by
collectors. The last in this line of dolls were the Model Agency and
Majorette's sold in
1972-73. The Majorette dolls have a glow in the dark baton that
they can spin. These dolls are the same size as Mattel - Rock
Flower dolls and can share their wardrobe, shoes and accessories.
