Wilhelm Quendt and Phillipp Schützmeister (in Coleman it's spelled Schüetzmeister) founded a porcelain factory in Boilstadt, Gotha, Germany in 1889.  Around 1908 Mr. Quendt left the firm and in 1918 S & Q became part of the reorganized Bing - Concentra  conglomeration.

The Schützmeister & Quendt company used the doll mark initials of SQ, S & Q which is often intertwined, plus the mold number or without the initials and just the doll mold number on the back of the dolls head, as shown below.

They made Character Baby and Dolly faced bisque head black or white dolls, cloth dolls and tea-cozy dolls.

After 1918 and later, doll production was limited to bisque doll heads made for other Bing members Kämmer & Reinhardt and the Welsch & Company.
