Schutzmeister bisque head child doll mold 201

Wilhelm Quendt and Phillipp Schützmeister (in Coleman it's spelled Schüetzmeister) founded a porcelain factory in Boilstadt, Gotha, Germany in 1889.  Around 1908 Mr. Quendt left the firm and in 1918 S & Q became part of the reorganized Bing conglomeration called Concentraby.

After 1918 and later doll production was limited to bisque doll heads made for other Bing members such as Kämmer & Reinhardt and Welsch & Company.

The Schützmeister & Quendt company used the doll mark SQ, S & Q which is often intertwined, as shown on lower left and is found on the back of dolls heads, plus the doll mold numbers shown below.

They made Character Baby and Dolly faced bisque head black or white dolls, cloth dolls and tea-cozy dolls.
